I'm hiking the Surrey Hills 3 Peaks

Matt Mallinder is raising money for Wooden Spoon
The Summit Squad 2026, fundraising for Maddy's Mark by tackling the Surrey 3 Peaks!
Campaign by Wooden Spoon (RCN 326691 (England & Wales), SC039247 (Scotland))
The Summit Squad have pledged to walk 23 miles of the Surrey 3 Peaks on 30 September to support Wooden Spoon, rugby's children's charity and specifically to raise funds for Maddy's Mark, a charity that supports the mental well-being of young girls.

Story

My last fundraising effort was growing a moustache for Movember, which admittedly took more patience than physical effort so this time I'm determined to really 'earn' your sponsorship.

I'm joining the team from Young's pubs 'summit squad' to walk 23 miles (or 37km, or 50,000 steps as that sounds more rugged) of the Surrey 3 Peaks on 30th September to support Wooden Spoon, rugby's children's charity and specifically to raise funds for Maddy's Mark, a charity that supports the mental well-being of girls and young women.

The hike features a total ascent of 1,060 metres and visits Box Hill (224m), Holmbury Hill (261m), and Leith Hill (294m), and we're aiming to 'knock it off' in 11 hours - so we can do it in daylight hours.

Maddy’s Mark is a charity that is supported by Wooden Spoon to bolster the mental well-being of girls and young women by building resilience, confidence, and camaraderie. By funding school programmes and partnering with clubs, they aim to make rugby accessible to all who wish to play.

Founded in memory of Maddy Lawrence, whose love for rugby and zest for life continues to inspire us. Maddy was brave and courageous and we want to help more young women in her honour.

Thank you for your support.
