Story
At the end of 2024, my wife, my family and myself went through what I'd describe as our darkest 3 months we'd ever seen and enough trauma to last a lifetime. We had 4 tragic losses, 1 of which being our Baby Molloy.
Whilst we are in a new year and try to move forward, the scars and memories will always remain.
I was fortunate I was reached out to by a friend I didn't know I had and got involved in Sands United Football Club. A group where men, like myself can come together and play football and have a safe space to talk or to just have some light in a dark time. Since getting involved over the last couple of months, the group has already helped improve my mental health. Which was the worst it's ever been and I owe the guys involved a lot of gratitude for taking me in and helping me fall back in love with playing football too, a part of myself I thought was long gone.
Sands supports it's groups, clubs, events throughout the country. Mine's been football, but they do a lot more, for a lot of other people.
As a sign of appreciation, I've signed up to do Run Norwich on Septmeber 7th 2025. I'd love to raise some money for the cause and challenge myself to complete the 10km distance.
About Sands
Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, operates across the UK: supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby; working in partnership with health professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care; and promoting improvements in practice and funding research that could help to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.
We depend on the amazing energies of our supporters to raise the vital funds that we need to deliver the wide range of services that we offer. #TeamSands
