We provide respite and end of life care to make the most of short & precious lives

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've been working for Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) as the Operations Lead at Charlton Farm children’s hospice since May 2023. During that time, I've been inspired everyday by the wonderful staff that make it such a special place for families of children and young people with life limiting or life-threatening conditions. The hospice allows them to absolutely make the most of what are often short but always precious lives.

CHSW relies largely on voluntary donations (CHSW receives less than 10% government funding), and as a result of being inspired by the fantastic work I see take place everyday I've decided to take on a series of physical challenges in 2024 to help raise funds in order for this work to continue.

The Challenges are:

1. April 19th – 50km Bridge 2 Bridge Walk – Clifton Suspension Bridge to Pulteney Bridge Bath via the River Avon. Then Bath to home (Kingswood) COMPLETE

2. May 19th – Bristol Half Marathon https://www.greatrun.org/events/great-bristol-run/

3. June 22nd - The 3 Peaks Challenge with a team from Ethical Power Connections that have chosen us as their charity for 2024.

4. July 12th - 14th – Ride For Precious Lives. https://www.chsw.org.uk/event/ride-precious-lives-2024

5. July 21st - Great Weston Ride.https://www.greatwestonride.com/

6. September 30th - 04th October – Walk to work week. This will involve me walking to Charlton Farm from my home in Kingswood, Bristol everyday Mon – Fri 13 miles each way so a marathon a day.

7. November – 11/11 Remembrance Challenge – Run/Walk 11 miles per day from 1-11 November

8. December 12 hour Fitathon - David Lloyd - Long Ashton

It's not just the Doctors, Nurses & carers, every single person plays their part in making Charlton Farm a welcoming, homely environment. The admin, kitchen, housekeeping, sibling and maintenance teams all ensure that children, young people & families always come in to a clean, safe, supportive environment and are fed lovely home cooked food.

In support of these teams are a wonderful army of volunteers who all play their part and give so much of their time.
