Story
Hello!
I'm running the Warrington Way 40 miler on November 8th, and based on the number of people who've asked if I'm raising money for charity, I probably should be.
Why the Motor Neurone Disease Foundation? Well, a couple of summers ago I'd enjoyed a long, hot day at Lord's, and after the close of play some friends and I were finishing up our drinks before leaving the ground. A tall, impeccably dressed man strode over and gave us a bottle of rosé saying that since he couldn't finish it, perhaps we'd like to.
That kind gent was Lewis Moody. A tenuous personal connection, but I was moved by his recent news (on the heels of similarly sobering diagnoses for the likes of Ed Slater, Rob Burrow, and Doddie Weir) and thought it as good a reason as any to encourage a few donations.
So... should you feel inclined, please consider donating the value of a glass (S/M/L), bottle, or magnum of rosé – no matter if it's Lidl's own or the finest niche offering from Park Vintners, any amount is welcome.
With luck I'll toast all donations with a glass on November 8th.
Cheers,
Matt
