*** Latest update ***
Well, I completed the marathon without needing a stretcher, and even managed a better time (4 hrs 36 mins) than I thought possible!
Just two more rides left to finish my challenges for 2025.
Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored me; you are all wonderful people!

Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of the Hospice of The Good Shepherd and every donation will help.
Their dedicated team of staff and healthcare professionals aim to meet the unique physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of those with a life-limiting illness, and to help maintain their dignity, providing specialist palliative care at all stages of their illness. They rely on fundraising and charitable contributions to cover 83% of their costs.
I'm going to run the Chester Marathon in October 2025. I've never run more than half that distance before, so this will be a huge challenge for me, and a big step in my ongoing recovery from a broken hip/neck/shoulder.
As a warm up, I ran the Chester 10k in March and the Chester Half Marathon in May. I'm also doing a huge cycling challenge throughout the year including Land's End - John O'Groats, which was my longest ever bike ride.
To keep it challenging, I strained my right calf in December, broke a wrist and a rib in May and a different rib in July which put a rather big dent in my training schedule. It's going to be really hard ...
Those challenges in full:
Chester Triple: Chester 10k + Chester Half Marathon + Chester Marathon in the same year
Double Randonneur Round the Year (2RRtY): At least two randonneur (200km+) cycle events per month for an Audax year (Nov-Oct).
Super Randonneur: Randonneur rides of at least 200km, 300km, 400km and 600km during an Audax year.
*** Cancelled due to Storm Floris: London-Edinburgh-London (LEL): 3rd-8th August; must be completed within 5 days
Land's End to John O'Groats (LeJog) within 116 hours (just under 5 days).
