Story

It’s got to be something special to make me get off my bike & lace up my trainers to attempt my 1st ever marathon!

That very special reason is our daughter Matilda. Towards the end of her time at Primary School we received a shocking medical diagnosis completely out of the blue - Neurofibromatosis or NF1 for short. It is a lifelong medical condition which is incurable & different for every individual.

About 2 years ago we discovered that Matilda has a brain tumour as a result of this condition. This is being closely monitored, remains stable & she has a great team of Consultants across 3 Hospitals looking after her.

We are so grateful for the care she receives from the NHS & as a family we also receive a great source of support & advice from the Nerve Tumours Trust UK. They have a helpline run by NF1 Nurses that parents can call. They provide information for schools. They work closely with other medical researchers internationally. In short, they are a leading voice for people living with NF.

I’m supporting Nerve Tumours UK because their mission means a great deal to me. They provide crucial support to people living with the Neurofibromatoses- the conditons that cause nerve tumours

They are dominant genetic conditions, which means that they can be passed on in families from one generation to the next through genetic inheritance. Similarly, about half of nerve tumours cases recorded have no previous family history of the condition. In other words, it can occur totally “out of the blue”.

Please help me raise vital funds to help Matilda & others like her.

Let’s get running….
