Story
We're running the London Marathon in 2027 in aid of Hospice UK.
This will be the first marathon distance Lucy has ever run, and she was incredibly lucky to get a ballot place this year.
Matt, on the other hand, has run ultra-marathon distances before. Despite that, this will be his first official marathon race, and he was lucky enough to secure a charity place with Hospice UK.
Although we've both enjoyed running for a while, having a young family and moving house has knocked it down the priority quite a bit, and we're pretty much starting from scratch when it comes to training!
Matt will be documenting some of his journey on social media, including sharing nutrition tips and training plans with his audience of athletes from around the world. You can follow him @mattendurancescientist
We've chosen to run for Hospice UK because we both care deeply about the palliative and end-of-life services that support people and families across the UK. For Lucy, this connection is also a personal one following the death of her dad, Rob, in 2020, she experienced first-hand how important Hospice care is for families like hers.
Throughout the year we'll be taking on fundraising challenges and hosting events with the help of our wonderful friends and family.
We'd be incredibly grateful for any donation you can make and genuinely, no amount is too small.
If you'd like to pick something from the shopping list, you could:
☕ Buy us a coffee – £5
🏃 Sponsor us for the halfway point – £13
🏅 Sponsor us for the full marathon – £26
We're also very happy to accept words of encouragement as we attempt the almost impossible task of marathon training alongside full-time jobs and life with a toddler!
What could possibly go wrong?!
❤️ Lucy & Matt
