Story
Thank you for supporting my fundraising.
Every day, more people across the UK are diagnosed with cancer, and every one of them deserves the best possible support. That’s why Macmillan Cancer Support does whatever it takes to help people living with cancer, providing practical, emotional and financial support when it’s needed most, while working to transform cancer care for the future.
Over the last 10 years, including through the challenges of the COVID pandemic, I’ve been proud to support Macmillan Cancer Support. During that time, I’ve successfully organised seven Hopes & Dreams Balls, raising more than £150,000 for this incredible charity. It’s a cause that remains incredibly close to my heart.
Both my mum and I have experienced cancer ourselves, and having seen first-hand the impact it has on individuals and families, raising money for Macmillan has never meant more to us. Their support for people facing cancer is invaluable, which is why continuing to fundraise is so important.
This year has been a little different. After supporting my mum through health issues, I realised I also needed to focus on my own health. In November 2024, at my heaviest weight of 22 stone, I made the decision to completely change my lifestyle.
Eighteen months later, I’ve lost 8½ stone, now weigh 86kg, and I’m a completely different person both mentally and physically. It has been one of the toughest but most rewarding journeys of my life.
That transformation has inspired me to get back to fundraising in a new way. Alongside my already demanding job, and together with my colleagues Rebecca Moore and David Todd, I’ll be taking on the Night Climb of Mount Snowdon on 3rd October—something that has always been on my bucket list.
This challenge is about pushing myself once again while raising vital funds for a charity that has meant so much to me and so many others.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, it will make a real difference. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure, and your donation goes directly to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Thank you for your generosity, encouragement and support. Together, we can help Macmillan continue to be there for everyone living with cancer when they need it most.
