We are running the Altra Kielder Half Marathon to raise money for the South Cleveland Heart Fund because of the incredible care my Dad received after he unexpectedly decided that a heart attack was a better challenge for him than this half marathon.

The level of efficiency, expertise and quality of care he received was impeccable. His surgery was performed so seamlessly it ensured there was no lasting damage and the exceptional care from the professionals on the ward guaranteed what is thankfully a full, speedy recovery.

Speaking of, he has recovered brilliantly and has even made his way back to some running. Although he was actually supposed to be running this event with us, he’s decided that watching us plod around for 13.1 miles is the slightly more sensible option this time (any excuse eh?)

We’re hoping to raise as much as possible to give something back to the people who kept him up and running. Honestly, after seeing it first hand, there is no amount of money that reflects what these guys do every single day - but let's give it a go!
