I am running the London Marathon 2026 in aid of the Firefighters Charity.

Not wanting to make life easy for myself, I have decided to run it in full Firefighting Kit - tunic (jacket), leggings (trousers) and helmet. It adds around 10kg to my load, but the real challenge will be the heat. Fire kit is designed to keep everything out, including air - which means I’ll be battling sweat and stamina all the way to the finish line (fingers crossed for no April heatwave!).

Since joining the Fire Service as an On-Call Firefighter earlier this year, I’ve gained a huge appreciation for the realities of the job. The middle-of-the-night callouts, the uncertainty of what each shout might bring, the commitment alongside full-time work, and the impact it has on family life - it’s a constant juggle that firefighters across the country take on.

That’s why I’m proud to be running in support of The Fire Fighters Charity. They provide vital, lifelong support to the UK’s fire service community -helping individuals and their families with their mental, physical, and social wellbeing at every stage of life.
