Story
On 16 October 2025, my former partner Claire, who I still loved and cared deeply about, passed away at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice. She was only 37.
Claire had been very unwell for several months, with repeated hospital stays, but I don’t think it ever really sunk in for any of us that she would be unlikely to recover. Even in her final days she was making plans, pushing for independence, and trying to live life on her own terms.
She was at Sue Ryder for less than a day before she passed, but in that short time the care, compassion, and dignity the staff gave her, and us, was exceptional. Their support made an unbearable moment just a little more bearable.
I’m taking part in the Gloucester 10k to raise much‑needed funds for Sue Ryder, so that other families facing the worst moments of their lives can receive the same kindness and support. Any donation, no matter the size, will help them continue their vital work.
