Brain Tumour Research is the leading voice of the brain tumour community and focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. We are campaigning to increase the national investment in research to at least £45 million a year and funding sustainable Centres of Excellence across the UK.

Story

I am raising money to support Brain Tumour Research and running the London Marathon in memory of Ria Melvin, a close family friend.

Ria was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM) aged 23 in December 2018. She underwent brain surgery twice, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy treatment in Germany, but nothing could save her and she passed away, aged 25, two years and seven months later.

One in three people in the UK knows someone affected by a brain tumour. This disease is indiscriminate; it can affect anyone at any age. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer yet funding to improve outcomes for patients remains critically low.

Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. It is the only national charity focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. Help fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.

Seeing the impact this disease has on families and loved ones has made me want to do something meaningful to help. I am running the London Marathon to raise money and continue the effort to support Brain Tumour Research in its search for improved treatment and ultimately a cure to help prevent more families from going through the same experience in the future.
