Access Sport is a registered charity. We make inclusion the norm by tackling the access barriers faced by disadvantaged and disabled young people, focussing on the causes of exclusion—not just the symptoms.

Story

The TrIsle of Wight: A Record-Breaking Challenge for a Life-Changing Cause

I’m attempting something that has never been done before — a record-setting endurance challenge I’ve named The TrIsle of Wight.

Over the course of 72 non-stop hours, I’ll circumnavigate the Isle of Wight three times — once by swimming, once by cycling, and once by running. That’s over 310km in total — a distance far beyond an Ironman. This is an Islandman.

I’ll begin with an estimated 100km open water swim around the island — which could take 20+ hours, the tides and wind will have a big impact.

After drying off, refuelling, and hopefully warming up, I’ll take on a 105km cycle loop of the island’s hilly roads.

Finally, I’ll lace up my shoes for the final stretch — a 107km ultra-marathon run, exploring parts of the island I couldn’t reach by bike.

I’ve taken on some brutal endurance events before, but nothing on this scale. This will be the toughest thing I’ve ever attempted, and I genuinely don’t know if it’s possible — but I’m going to give it everything I’ve got.

Why am I doing this?

I’m doing it for Access Sport, a brilliant charity that empowers disadvantaged and disabled young people through the power of sport. So far, Access Sport has positively impacted over 20,000 young lives, but we’re just getting started. Our next goal is to reach 50,000 young people by 2027 — and to do that, we need your help.

With public funding shrinking and competition for grants growing, every donation — big or small — will make a real difference. The money you give will help create safe, inclusive, and life-changing opportunities in sport for the young people who need it most.

This is about more than a personal challenge — it’s about creating real, lasting change for thousands of children and young people across the UK.

Please, if you can, sponsor me. Support the mission. Help us reach one more young person who deserves a chance to thrive.

Thank you so much.
