Story
Last November my Mum passed away from bowel cancer. I am eternally grateful for all of the love and support that she showed me and I will forever cherish the memories I have of her. She touched the lives of so many in the community with her positivity, joy and kindness. I can't really put in to words how amazing she was.
To mark the one year anniversary of her passing I am running the Alton Towers Half Marathon. This will be my first ever half marathon! It will be a great personal challenge for myself and an opportunity to fundraise for a charity that means a lot to me.
At Let’s Talk About Loss, our vision is that no young griever grieves alone. We know that 77% of 18-35 year olds have experienced grief yet 39% feel “uncomfortable” talking about it. As we look ahead to 2026, we want to get ready to support as many young grievers as we can and break down the barriers that mean people grieve alone.
I am planning to use this as an opportunity to open up a little more about my experience of grief and begin to end the taboo surrounding grief and mental health.
