Huntington's Disease is a condition that is inherited, it is a disease that has affected my close family and will continue to do so over the coming years. You are either born with the faulty gene or you are not so there is a 50/50 chance of you getting it if one of your biological parents have the disease. In the UK there are around 8000 people with Huntington's Disease. The disease effects the central nervous system, behaviour, thinking, processing speed, movement, mood and speech. It is sometimes described as Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, motor neurone disease, Alzheimer's disease all at the same time.
The Huntington's Disease Association supports anyone who is affected by Huntington's disease across England and Wales. They pursue the best possible care, provide training and advice to families affected by the disease. They raise awareness and promote research towards better treatment and care.
This charity is close to my heart, they don't get as much help as bigger charities do so any pennies you can give I very much appreciate your support.
Thank you
