Story
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) are responding to the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza. With people in Gaza facing the threat of imminent famine, and medics pushed beyond their limits, urgent medical aid is desperately needed. MAP are supplying hospitals and emergency responders with the supplies they need and help is needed to raise critical funds to save lives in Gaza.
We have teamed up with MAP to raise funds for their emergency appeal so they can continue supplying medical aid and equipment to Gaza.
We are a team of nine (Cameron, Catherine, Claire, Fiona, Florence, Jack, Matthew, Murray and Niamh), based in The Scottish Borders, Belfast, The Lake District and Sydney. We are going to be virtually travelling the 4,054.1 miles, the distance from our hometown, West Linton in The Scottish Borders, to Gaza city, from 8th August until end of September. These miles will be travelled by swimming, cycling and running.
Our virtual route goes from Scotland to Dover, across the English Channel, through Europe and North Africa to Cairo, before entering Gaza via the Rafah crossing, the main humanitarian entry point.
If you are able to donate any amount of money to this cause we would be extremely grateful. All funds raised will go directly towards MAP’s emergency appeal, providing supplies which are necessary for helping to save the lives of people Gaza.
You can also follow our teams’ progress, see photos of our various adventures (across Sydney, Belfast, The Lake District and The Scottish Borders), and read about our updates here and on our individual Strava pages.
