Yr Wyddfa Challenge: Because One Challenge Clearly Wasn’t Enough 💙⛰️
We’re a group of LJMU Sport Business staff members, and for reasons we’re still trying to justify to ourselves, we’ve decided to take on something slightly unhinged… all in support of an incredible cause.
This isn’t your average “let’s go for a nice walk” fundraiser. We’ve signed up for the Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Challenge — a three-part, all-in-one-day endurance event that really asks the important question: “How much can a group of staff push themselves before questioning every life decision that led them here?”
🏔️ What we’ve committed to (no backing out now):
🥾 15km hike (up a mountain… willingly)
🚴 15km cycle (because clearly the hike wasn’t enough)
🛶 3km kayak (just in case we still have feeling left in our legs)
All of this happens in a single day, and we have to complete it as a team — meaning we stick together the whole time, no matter how dramatic things get.
💡 Why are we doing this? (Other than poor decision-making?)
We’re raising money for Claire House Children’s Hospice. Claire House Children’s Hospice helps seriously & terminally ill children live life to the full, creating wonderful memories & bringing back a sense of normality to family life. Through specialist nursing & emotional support Claire House helps families smile when life couldn’t get any tougher. The work they do is genuinely life-changing, offering comfort, dignity, and moments that matter most.
Yes, we’ll make jokes. Yes, there will be sarcasm. And yes, there will almost certainly be complaints somewhere around kilometre 10. But the reason behind it all is something we take seriously — supporting families who face challenges far greater than the one we’ve signed up for.
Every donation helps Claire House continue their incredible work — and gives us the motivation to keep going when we’re halfway up a mountain wondering whose idea this really was.
Support us, donate if you can, and enjoy watching us attempt this.
