When lives are shattered by a life-changing injury Day One Trauma Support is there to help piece them back together. We are the only national charity to provide personalised care to anyone affected by a catastrophic injury of any kind, their loved ones and their families – for as long it takes.

Story

Team Dorset Orthopaedic have signed up to run the Manchester/Bournemouth Half Marathons in October this year to raise money for Day One Trauma Support.

None of us would class ourselves as runners so this will be a challenge for us all. Matt Hughes is running in Bournemouth whilst Moose Baxter, Anna Housley and Ankita Mistry are running in Manchester.

Day One Trauma Support is the only charity supporting all major trauma patients in the UK, regardless of their type of injury.

A catastrophic event can change everything, with the impact of major trauma being hard to overstate. Life changing injury stops people in their tracks and they often find that their whole life, and that of their families is completely turned upside down. The physical limitations of pain and fatigue caused by injuries can be enormous - 30 per cent of major trauma patients acquire a physical disability which may affect their ability to participate in activities they have done previously, or to undertake normal family responsibilities.

Through our roles at Dorset Orthopaedic Ottobock.care, we support clients who have suffered life changing injuries and Day One Trauma have been there to support many of them with us. The work they do is phenomenal and this charity deserves our support to grow and be able to provide input to as many trauma victims across the UK as they can.

We would really appreciate your support to reach our target, any amount donated will be very great fully received.

Thanks so much

Matt, Anna, Moose and Ankita xx
