Story
Hi, im Matt and i love being outdoors, hiking, camping, swimming and any other adventure i can get on. Since being diagnosed with PTSD, Depression and Anxiety after 19 years in the army ive found that the best thing for me is being out in the fresh air, in all weather conditions. Because of that, to me, the mountain rescue teams across the UK are a massively important service which sadly need funding.. so i figured, a fat guy walking almost 100 miles in scotland during winter might raise a few funds for them. NEWSAR is my local team, and even if i havent yet needed them, i, among many others would like them to be trained and kitted out should the day come when i need them to come and help me.
NEWSAR volunteers provide the Police, Ambulance Service and local communities of North East Wales with a highly competent search and rescue capability that can be deployed swiftly, safely and effectively 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
When we aren't attending call outs or training our team of volunteers are kept very busy raising £30,000 per year to fund the day to day running of the team and keep us operational. NEWSAR does not receive any Government funding.
