Story

Hi All,

I have decided to embark on a challenge to see if I can push beyond my limits.

I have done a few marathons as most of you will know but I always knew deep down I would complete those so now I'd like to go beyond what seems physically possible to me.

So I'm going to run from our house in Greenisland NI, to my wife Breege's parents house in Clonmany, Donegal. 115 miles (185km)

Going to break it up over four consecutive days:

Day 1 - Greenisland to Carnlough - 29.5 miles

Day 2 - Carnlough to Ballycastle - 26 miles

Day 3 - Ballycastle to Castlerock - 26 miles

Day 4 - Castlerock to Clonmany - 33.1 miles

I'm doing this to raise money for the Simon Community NI. I believe that everyone needs a roof over their head, Mental health in NI is a massive issue and has only got worse since Covid. This has led to people losing jobs and then homes.

Simon Community Northern Ireland believes everyone should have a place to call home.

We are Northern Ireland’s leading homelessness charity & the largest provider with 21 emergency and temporary accommodation based services offering 464 beds and a warm welcome, every night of the year. Each year we support over 3,000 people who find themselves without a home. Not only do we offer emergency accommodation, wellbeing services, dedicated youth & family services, we also run a 24-hour helpline, which last year answered 18,000 calls.
