Story
Since 1991, Wintercomfort have been at the forefront of support for homeless and vulnerably housed people in Cambridge.
Sadly, the number of homeless people in Cambridge is at its highest for many years. In 2021/22 the charity supported 456 people; last financial year that had nearly doubled to 800. One of those people was John and you can read his story to see how homelessness is now affecting many more people as a result of the housing crisis https://wintercomfort.org.uk/stories/johns-story/.
Open every day of the year, we provide hot meals, showers, laundry facilities, clothing and healthcare for rough sleepers. We also provide an extensive range of specialist advice and support to empower people to achieve long-lasting, positive change in their lives. We help people to access housing and employment, offer counselling and therapy, support for people working to overcome addiction, education and training programmes, dedicated support for homeless women and a range of activities aimed at building self-confidence and social inclusion.
Your support will help us to continue our vital work to help to improve the lives of some of the most vulnerable people within the city and surrounding region.
To raise funds for WinterComfort, I’m running the Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday 8th March. Please give what you can to help this vital work.
