Story
Sport changes lives – giving freedom, confidence and community, especially for children and adults with visual impairments.
Our Story
We’re Jordan and Matthew, and this year we’re taking on the London Marathon together. It’s Matthew’s first ever marathon, and we’re aiming for a 3 hour 30 minute finish. We’re raising £1000 for Metro Blind Sport — a fantastic local charity supporting blind and partially sighted people across London and the surrounding areas. Matthew has been a proud member for 15 years, and we’ve both seen the difference this charity makes.
What Metro Blind Sport Does
Metro Blind Sport provides inclusive sporting and social opportunities for visually impaired children and adults. This includes adapted sports such as cricket and tennis, as well as tandem cycling through partner organisations, plus many other activities. They also offer leisure opportunities like park walks and community events that help people stay active, confident and connected.
These experiences have helped young disabled sports people grow into international athletes. Many members have gone on to represent England and Wales in blind and partially sighted cricket, and others have become Paralympians — with many of their journeys starting at Metro. Without Metro, and the generous support and donations that sustain it, these life changing pathways would have been far less possible.
Why Your Donation Matters
Think back to the first time you rode a bike or played the sport you love — that feeling of freedom, excitement and possibility. Your contribution helps fund adapted equipment, inclusive coaching and meaningful community activities, giving children and adults with sight loss the chance to experience that same joy and independence.
