Story
Hi I’m Matthew and I am fundraising with Shropshire Scouts to attend the 2027 World Scout Jamboree
I’m incredibly excited and honoured to have been selected by Shropshire Scouts to attend the 2027 World Scout Jamboree in Poland — a once-in-a-lifetime event that brings together thousands of Scouts from all over the world for adventure, friendship, and unforgettable experiences.
I’ve been part of Scouting since I was 5 years old, starting out as a Beaver, and Scouting has been a huge part of my life ever since. I’ve always been an active and enthusiastic member, taking part in everything from Beaver, Cub, Scout, and Explorer camps to trips and visits across the UK. Through Scouting, I’ve built confidence, learnt new skills, and made friendships that will last a lifetime.
As part of my Scouting journey, I’m also a proud member of the Boreatton Drum and Bugle Corps, a Scouting-based group where I perform at events across the local area. Through this, I’ve had the honour of drumming at many occasions, including playing the Last Post on Remembrance Sunday. For the past three years, I’ve also played with the National Scout and Guide Concert Band, including performing at their 10th anniversary concert at Symphony Hall in Birmingham, including a short solo which was an incredible experience and something I’ll never forget.
Now I’m looking forward to my next big adventure in Scouting. The World Scout Jamboree isn’t just about travelling to another country — it’s about meeting Scouts from different cultures, building international friendships, and living the values of Scouting on a global stage.
To make this opportunity possible, I need to raise £3,900, which will help cover travel, accommodation, and participant fees. Any support, no matter the size, would mean so much to me and help bring me one step closer to representing Shropshire Scouting internationally.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for supporting my journey — every donation really does make a difference.
A few Words from Shropshire Scouts
Scouting aims to help all children reach their full potential.
We provide training and experiences to give Young People opportunities to build lifelong friendships, grow as individuals and see as much of life as possible to help them find their own path.
The World Scout Jamboree is the pinnacle of World Scouting; the largest event organised by the largest Youth Movement in the world. Held every four years around the world, the next is in Gdansk, Poland, in 2027. Our Shropshire Scouts will be rubbing shoulders with Young People from over 200 countries, and joining together in a spirit of friendship and peace to play our part in making the world a better place.
