We provide food, drinks, tents, sleeping bags and clothes to our services users in the Wakefield Area. We do this by providing an outside street kitchen service and also operate a small food bank.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm running the London Marathon on Sunday 21st April, I've paid all the costs so all your donations will go directly to helping some of the poorest people in Wakefield re-directing food which would otherwise go into landfill.

At Wakefield Street Kitchen we are regularly serving food to over 200 people each week. I have been volunteering for 5 years now and regardless of politics, I don't think supermarkets/shops should be throwing food away when we have people with very little to eat.

So we intercept food destined for the bin and give it to some of the poorest and most vulnerable in our area.

Some are living on the streets, most are in hostels but all are in a situation desperate enough to queue up in a car park each week for up to an hour for food. Some are people working full-time but on low wages (and high rents), domestic abuse survivors and their children and people who've lost their jobs or where a relationship has broken down and they've had to move out. So any help would be really appreciated.
