LCC Big Bike Ride · 26 May 2025

Dorothy House provides palliative and end of life care to patients living with a life-limiting illness, and their families and carers. The majority of care is delivered in the home and community and covers an area of 800sq miles. All services are free of charge.

Story

On 26th May 2025, an inexperienced rabble of 18 grown men from Bath will attempt to cycle from Durham to Bath via every Test Cricket Ground in England. In just Four days ... and all for some incredible local charities.

These are The Ruth Strauss Foundation, Dorothy House Hospice Care, RUHX, The Official Charity of The Royal United Hospital and Bath Gateway Out and about.

The ride will be a mammoth challenge for riders with very mixed cycling backgrounds.

It's all part of Lansdown Cricket Club's Bicentennary celebrations where the Cub has set itself the challenge of raising £200,000 for its 200 years of history.

Thank you for supporting us!

With no cycling experience when asked if I would like to participate in the event I immediately said no, but when Scott explained the good causes he was trying the raise money for and had personal experience of the great work the RUH and Dorothy house do I had no choice but to participate. Training over the winter months has been excruciatingly painful and 3 falls to my name so far. If I could reach the target of £2000 it would be a great incentive to finish what’s going to be a very hard 4 days and if I do reach the target I promise no one will ever see a middle age man with middle age spread in pink lycra again. Thank you very much for any donations no matter how small it’s very much appreciated.
