Story
I’m honored to be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in support of the Skye High Foundation, a charity that has had a profound impact on our family. In 2023, my wife gave birth to our beautiful identical twin daughters. Tragically, our youngest, Olive, passed away shortly after birth, while her sister spent four weeks in the NICU.
During this time of immense heartbreak and uncertainty, the Skye High Foundation provided crucial support, ensuring that we could grieve for Olive while also focusing on our daughter in the NICU. Through thoughtful resources like the purple butterfly—symbolizing the loss of a twin—they helped us honor Olive’s memory and navigate the complexities of parenting through grief. Their care allowed us to create meaningful memories with Olive, even when we were overwhelmed by the moment.
The impact of this traumatic experience was life-changing for me and my family. I struggled deeply with my mental health, experiencing panic attacks and losing my fitness, self-control, and sense of direction. I was unable to work and felt disconnected from the person I once was. Through exercise, medication, and support from mental health professionals, I have slowly regained my life and, most importantly, the ability to support my family.
Taking on this half marathon is more than a physical challenge for me. It’s a testament to how far I’ve come—an opportunity to show that I’ve conquered my struggles and reclaimed my strength. Running for the Skye High Foundation allows me to give back to the charity that stood by us when we needed it most, while also proving to myself and my family that healing is possible.
Every donation will help the Skye High Foundation continue their life-changing work, ensuring other families receive the compassionate care and resources they need in times of profound loss. Thank you for helping me celebrate Olive’s legacy and support this incredible cause.
