Story
This JustGiving page has been set up to support the lifesaving work of RNLI Lifeguards covering the beaches of South Cornwall.
In 2026, the RNLI celebrates an incredible milestone: 25 years of RNLI Lifeguards, dedicated to saving lives, protecting communities and keeping people safe on beaches across the UK and Ireland.
This milestone year is especially meaningful to me. 2026 marks my 14th season as an RNLI Lifeguard, and over the years I've seen first hand the commitment, teamwork and courage required to protect the public in some of the most challenging conditions.
To celebrate 25 years of RNLI Lifeguards, and to give back to a service that has shaped my life, I'm taking on a major personal challenge.
This isn't a casual dip in the pool.
I'm committing to swimming 25 miles every month for an entire year, a total of 300 miles. The 25 miles each month symbolize every year of RNLI Lifeguard service while raising vital funds for the South Cornwall Lifeguard Service.
Every mile swum represents the dedication of lifeguards past and present, and every donation helps provide the training, equipment and resources needed to continue saving lives.
An Incredible Milestone
I'm absolutely blown away by the support so far.
Together we've now raised over £2,500, reaching my original fundraising target!
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated, shared the fundraiser and supported me along the way. Reaching the target is an amazing achievement, but the challenge certainly doesn't stop here. Every penny raised from this point onwards is an added bonus that will go directly towards supporting the RNLI Lifeguard Service in South Cornwall.
🏊 Challenge Progress
The swimming challenge has gone even better than I could have imagined.
So far I've completed three major open water events:
🥇 1st Place RNLI Around the Mount Swim
🥇 1st Place RNLI Mullion Island Swim
🏅 4th Overall Cotswold 10K Swim
Training has stepped up massively too, and I'm now swimming over 20km every week as I prepare for the biggest challenge of the year.
With just six weeks to go, all eyes are now on the Windermere 11 Mile End to End Swim in September.
🏊♂️ Events Completed and Still to Come
✅ Cotswold 10K Swim, June 27 (4th Overall)
✅ RNLI Around the Mount Swim, July 11 (1st Place)
✅ RNLI Mullion Island Swim, July 12 (1st Place)
⏳ Windermere 11 Mile End to End Swim, September
...and maybe a few more before the year's out!
Plenty more training, miles and cold water still to come. 💪
🏊♂️ Swimming Challenge Update
I'm now well ahead of schedule.
Monthly totals:
• January: 25.58 miles
• February: 26.53 miles
• March: 27.29 miles
• April: 33.00 miles
• May: 32.10 miles
Total completed: 144.55 miles (232,634 metres)
That's 19.55 miles ahead of target!
My body has adapted brilliantly throughout the challenge, and I'm feeling stronger than ever as training intensifies. The focus now is on building even more endurance with long open water swims and race specific preparation ahead of Windermere.
