Story
This JustGiving page has been set up to support the lifesaving work of RNLI Lifeguards covering the beaches of South Cornwall.
In 2026, the RNLI celebrates an incredible milestone: 25 years of RNLI Lifeguards dedicated to saving lives, protecting communities, and keeping people safe on beaches across the UK and Ireland.
This milestone year is especially meaningful to me. 2026 will be my 14th season as an RNLI Lifeguard, and over the years I’ve seen first hand the commitment, teamwork, and courage required to protect the public in some of the most challenging conditions.
To celebrate 25 years of RNLI Lifeguards and to give back to a service that has shaped my life, I’m taking on a major personal challenge.
This isn’t a casual dip in the pool. I’m committing to swimming 25 miles every month for a full year. A total of 300 miles across the year.
The 25 miles each month symbolise every year of RNLI Lifeguard service while raising vital funds for the South Cornwall Lifeguard Service.
Every mile swum represents the dedication of lifeguards past and present, and every donation helps support the training, equipment, and resources needed to continue saving lives.
And as if that wasn’t enough, I’ll also be taking on some incredible open water events throughout the year:
⭐️ Cotswolds 10K Swim • June 27
⭐️ RNLI Around the Mount Swim • July 11
⭐️ RNLI Mullion Island Swim • July 12
⭐️ Windermere 11 Mile End to End Swim • September
And maybe more 🤩
Plenty more training, miles and cold water still to come 💪
All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to South Cornwall RNLI Lifeguards, supporting coverage at the following beaches:

🏊♂️ SWIMMING CHALLENGE UPDATE 🏊♂️
Almost halfway there!
📊 Monthly totals:
• January: 25.58 miles
• February: 26.53 miles
• March: 27.29 miles
• April: 33.00 miles
• May: 32.10 miles
🏊 Total completed: 144.55 miles (232,634 metres)
That puts me 19.55 miles ahead of target!
My body has adapted well through these first five months of training, and I’m feeling strong heading into the next phase. The focus now shifts towards increasing open water volume, race specific preparation and getting plenty of cold water miles in ahead of the summer events.
I’ve been averaging around 10km per week, and now I’ll be stepping that up to around 16km per week as the challenge progresses.
Thank you so much for your support. Every donation, share and message truly makes a difference. Together we’re helping ensure South Cornwall RNLI Lifeguards can continue keeping beachgoers safe for years to come.
