Matthew's fundraiser for Step

Matthew Ward is raising money for Step

Team: Love Your Enemy For Step

We work in local secondary schools to share the Christian faith in a lively, relevant and consistent manner. Through a core staff team and volunteers from local churches, we teach engaging RE lessons, run lunchtime groups, deliver whole day activities, run courses and organise social action projects

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I will be wearing a Spurs shirt next month for the appropriately named ‘Hart 4’ race. As an Arsenal fan, this might sound like a strange thing to do, but I’m hoping to raise some money for an amazing Christian charity named Step by ‘loving my enemy’.

From September 2025, they are encouraging as many people as possible to 'Love Your Enemy For Step' by wearing their rival's football shirt for the day, but I’ve decided to take part a bit early. I know from personal experience the work that Step does to spread the message of love and whatever your view is on religion, I think we can (hopefully) all agree that a bit more love for each other in this polarised world is needed these days!!

In a world where difference and tribalism can separate us, the Love Your Enemy for Step campaign is about recognising Jesus' teaching of loving your enemy and appreciating the value in each of us, whoever we support.

I would appreciate any sponsorship but I am also encouraging others to join this team and wear their rival's kit for a day so if you would like to create your own fundraising page you can do so by clicking on the following link

Maybe you don't have a rival or even like football. If that's the case you can always do something similar to a Step worker named Helena who hates football but is willing to don a shirt chosen by her sponsors. Or you could sponsor those who will undertake this difficult challenge.

Thank you so much for any support you give- it all will go to the same campaign and ensure Step can continue the great work it does in schools.
