A 200 year-old charity helping London's ex-prisoners and their families with grants for training and welfare.

Story

Shrieval Charity Cycle Ride, 12th to 14th September 2024

City of London Sheriff Bronek Masojada and other Livery and City luminaries will set off on a three-day 180-mile charity cycle ride from the Old Bailey to the National Justice Museum in Nottingham.

The ride is in support of the Sheriffs' and Recorder's Fund which provides financial support to help ex-prisoners rebuild their lives on release. Recent grants include:

• Providing household items: A 23-year-old recently released women was provided unfurnished accommodation. She needed beds for her 4-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter. The S&R Fund agreed her request, enabling her to get her children back and begin to rebuild her life.

• Tools: A 35-year-old man who had completed a Painting & Decorating course, was offered a job, but needed paint brushes, ladders and other tools. The S&R Fund provided these.

• Tools: A 20-year-old man was offered a job in Construction but needed his own hardhat, safety boots, high-vis jacket and goggles. The S&R Fund provided these

• Equipment: A 28-year-old woman had trained as a Seamstress in prison. The S&R Fund provided a sewing machine so she could set up her own alterations business at home.
