Matthew's fundraiser for London Retired Police Dogs Trust

Matthew Witcomb is raising money for London Retired Police Dogs Trust

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·

The sole aim of London Retired Police Dogs Trust is to ensure that the dogs get the retirement that they deserve. We provide support for medical care and treatment, meaning their owners are not left with an agonising decision to make about the animals future due to financial concerns.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Throughout my life, our family have always had Police Dogs at home with my dad training, raising and working them. We are all very proud of our Dad's achievements in the Police and especially the Dog Section and I would love to raise as much money, as I can, for such a great cause. We have been lucky enough to have 14 dogs come through our door and Mimosa Marvin, who is my Dad's last working dog is still going strong at the age of 10.

I was lucky enough to work in the Metropolitan Police Dog Kennels for a good few years. I made some great friends and caring for the Police Dogs was something I look back on with great pride and fond memories.

The LRPD supports retired Police Dogs in their retired years. Unlike their colleagues, they do not receive a nice tasty pension! So any money raised is going to a great cause.

Lastly, my knees are shot, I have two metal shoulders and running is not 'fun', but I am looking forward to the challenge of running a half marathon to help such a great charity.
