Story
In early 2026 I’ll be running the Marrakech Half Marathon, followed by the Lake Garda Marathon in April, to raise money for the ManKind Initiative, a charity that supports male victims of domestic abuse. These are my first ever 2 races and the first time I’ve ever ran further than a half marathon so this is a big challenge
I’m a bit anxious about sharing this but this cause is personal to me, with myself being victim of domestic abuse something I didn’t even recognise as abuse at the time. I stayed silent, never asked for help, and only later realised the reality of what I had lived through. I’m still getting over the effects now, which is why I want to use these races as a way to raise awareness and funds, so other men know where to turn and can get the support they need.
Male victims are often overlooked. The statistics are shocking:
The ManKind Initiative estimates that between 3-5 men every week die by suicide due to domestic abuse.
1 in 3 victims of domestic abuse are men (source: ONS Crime Survey, England & Wales).
Every year, around 757,000 men in the UK are victims of domestic abuse.
Only about 1 in 20 men will ever seek support — many never come forward.
That’s why ManKind is so important. They provide a confidential helpline, information, and direct support for men who might otherwise feel completely alone.
My fundraising target is £500, and every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards helping men get the support they deserve.
Thank you so much for standing with me and supporting this cause 💙
