In 2023, we lost a beloved husband, son, family member and friend, Matthew Garufi, whose life was profoundly impacted by epilepsy. Matthew's journey was one of courage and resilience, but tragically, it was cut short by SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy).

To honor Matthew’s memory and ensure that his legacy continues to make a difference, we’ve created a special fundraising page. This is more than just a fundraiser; it’s a tribute to Matthew’s life and a promise to support the 250,000 Australians living with epilepsy. It’s a way for us to remember Matthew and all those who have lost their lives to SUDEP, turning our grief into a force for positive change.

In addition to this fundraiser, on Saturday, 26th October 2024, we will come together at St George Leagues Club in Kogarah for a charity dinner held in Matthew’s loving memory. The evening will be filled with moments of reflection, community, and hope. We’ll be holding raffles for Matthew’s cherished Dragons memorabilia, along with generous donations from the Illawarra Dragons and our wonderful community. A portion of ticket sales will go directly to Epilepsy Action Australia, whose work is crucial in supporting those affected by epilepsy.

Epilepsy Action Australia will also be joining us as a special guest, sharing their mission and commitment to making a real difference in the lives of those living with epilepsy. Their presentation will be a poignant reminder of why we are gathered—because no one should face this battle alone.
