From PTSD to World Record

Matthew Howe is raising money for PTSD UK

Guinness World Record · 30 May 2026

PTSD UK is the only UK charity which is dedicated to education about, and raising awareness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, it's causes, symptoms & the treatments available - no matter the trauma that caused it

Story

I’m a former Royal Marine and Police Officer, and I’m attempting a world record to raise money for PTSD UK.

During my time in the Police, I developed PTSD. It changed my life in ways I never expected. I could have let it limit me. I could have stepped back.

Instead, I chose to fight.

I’m attempting the world record for:

Most Barbell Arm Curls in 24 Hours.

This challenge isn’t just physical — it’s symbolic. It represents pushing back against the mental battles that try to hold us down.

PTSD affects veterans, emergency service workers, and civilians across the UK. Too many suffer in silence.

If I can use this platform to raise awareness and funds so others get support, then every rep will be worth it.

This isn’t just about breaking a record.

It’s about breaking the silence around PTSD.

If you can donate or share, thank you.
