Story
Hello everyone, I am Maulik Darji a Consultant Therapy Radiographer specialising in Head and Neck Cancer. I am taking on the challenge of walking 75 miles in total during the month of May to raise funds for The Swallows Head and Neck Cancer Charity. This journey isn’t just about the miles – its about making a real difference.
Head and cancer treatments can significantly affect a patient’s quality of life due to the potential for disfigurement, difficulties in speech, swallowing and changes in taste, dryness of mouth. Recognising these challenges, I have made it my mission to advocate for a holistic approach to patient care during and after treatment in the view of minimising any negative effect on quality of life, by educating and involving family & carers to ensure that the level of care and understanding is being met at home as well as the hospital.
The Swallows Charity supports all people affected by head and neck cancers, patients, carers friends or relatives. The patient is the focus for support, help and signposting, however the role of carers and others is vital too, with their own support needs often overlooked. It is our intention for every person affected by head and neck cancer to have access to support at the point they need it and by the method off their choice on a 24/7 basis. This could be by telephone, email or social media.
Every donation, big or small, brings us closer to making an impact. If you can, please donate and share this page with your friends and family. Together, we can create change!
Thank you for your support, it is greatly appreciated.
