Our colleague and friend Donald Graham was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease (MND) in August 2023 only 6 months after retiring from a 37-year career as an overhead Linesman with SSE. In his spare time Donald was also an avid rugby player who spent his youth playing for Hyndland Rugby Club in Glasgow, before moving to Stornoway where he continued playing until hanging up his boots in 2010. Despite his diagnoses Donald continues to be a stalwart of Stornoway Rugby club, cheering on the team at home games.

MND is a degenerative, neurological condition that leads to weakening of muscles that can affect how the body works. It can have an impact on your speech, communication, mobility and movement, emotions, relationships and family. This is a life-shortening illness and at present there is no cure. Currently there are 450 people in Scotland living with MND.

We are fundraising for MND Scotland throughout the year to spread awareness of this devastating and cruel disease.
