On 11th May 2025 I will be running the Leeds Marathon and I'm excited to be raising money for a lovely local charity, The Devizes Opportunity Centre.

Devizes Opportunity Centre is a small independent charity based in Devizes that provides specialist early years education and interventions for children aged 0 - 4 years who have any additional need or disability.

They take referrals from the whole of the East of Wiltshire including Marlborough, Tidworth, Devizes, Pewsey and Melksham. The range of need for children who are referred can be from the medically complex/life limiting through to children with speech delay who need a bit of extra support.

Through their work with the children they encourage them to reach their full learning potential by using a range of strategies and empowering the children to become as independent as possible with their own learning.

They work alongside parents, other professionals, the Local Authority and mainstream settings to ensure that every child has a fully supportive network of people around them. They also provide outreach support to mainstream preschools and nurseries to support early years practitioners in their own practices with children with additional needs.

Each little step that a child makes in their learning journey is a cause of celebration to the team at the Centre and without the generosity of the local community through fundraising they simply couldn't afford to keep our doors open.
