Max's Channel Swims for Mind

Max Ashken is raising money for Mind
In memory of Peter Ashken

English Channel Swims

We’re Mind, the mental health charity, working across England & Wales. We believe no one should face a mental health problem alone. We’re here for you. Whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis. We’ll listen, give support & advice, & fight your corner. Thanks for fundraising for national Mind.

Story

I'm swimming the English Channel twice this summer in memory of my dad, Peter Ashken, who took his own life in 2022 after a prolonged period of mental health issues.

Training for the channel has had a hugely positive impact on my life, and I feel honoured to be able to attempt something like this. In July I will be completing a two-person relay with my friend Nick Skelton, followed by a solo swim in September.

Mind were there for my family after my dad passed away, so fundraising for them to continue the important work they do is very close to my heart. I also want to raise awareness for people who have lost a parent to suicide, because it is a very unique type of loss that few truly understand.

I'm very grateful for any and all donations. Love, Max
