Running in 2025 for Cardiac Risk in the Young

Great North Run 2025 · 7 September 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
On the 19th May last year my best friend, Mike Harper, was lost to a sudden cardiac arrest just before crossing the finish line of the Bristol Half Marathon. This was a complete shock, he was fit, healthy and had no known health issues.
This year I’m running to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) in memory of Mike. Whilst also aiming to increase awareness of young sudden cardiac deaths to help prevent further tragedies.
We first met through running at Lincoln Wellington Athletics Club, with us then realising we’d also just started the same secondary school…
There are countless memories that Mike’s friends and family hold close that he will continue to live on through.
Along with Mike’s close friends and family, I’ll be running the Bristol Half Marathon on the 11th May. I will also be wearing the CRY vest for the Coventry Half Marathon (27th April) and the Great North Run (7th September) to raise awareness.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated, I’d also encourage you to follow the link to the CRY website and sign up to get notifications for any nearby cardiac screenings.
