Sydney Backyard Ultra 2025 · 20 September 2025

At the Royal Flying Doctor Service in South Australia & Northern Territory (Central Operations), every day we assist around 100 patients, be it an aeromedical evacuation, a GP and Community Health Nurse clinic, a telehealth call, a mental health or oral health clinic, or a child's immunisation. From our four aeromedical bases at Darwin, Alice Springs, Port Augusta, and Adelaide, and our health services staffed by Remote Area Nurses in Marree, Andamooka and Marla, RFDS Central Operations assists over 50,000 patients every year - that's one patient every 20 minutes!

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Royal Flying Doctors Service is an incredible charity that saved my life.

In 2017, in the outback of South Australia, I was the passenger in a severe car accident that nearly took my life. The Flying Doctors flew me from Coober Pedy to Adelaide where there was a major hospital with the required intensive care unit. The doctors and nurses worked on me for the duration of the flights to keep me alive.

It's been eight years since then, I currently live in Sydney and I want to say thank you to the Royal Flying Doctors. As a charity, the best thank you is funding. So I will be pushing my limits in the Sydney Backyard Ultra to raise awareness and money for the people that saved my life.

The backyard ultra is a 6.7km loop on the hour every hour in a last-person-standing format. I don't know where my limits are, but I know this will push me further and harder than anything else.

Please consider donating for the RFDS, any amount makes a difference.

Thank you,

Max
