The Swallows Charity supports all people affected by head and neck cancers, patients, carers friends or relatives. The patient is the focus for support, help and signposting, however the role of carers and others is vital too, with their own support needs often overlooked.

Story

My mum was diagnosed with cancer of the tonsils early last year and obviously it shocked and scared us all to the core. After chemo and radiotherapy she was pointed in the direction of a privately run support group called The Swallows, which is a charity run specifically to support people who have been through head and neck cancer. The support group have been an amazing help in her recovery, with a lot of humour and personal stories, it has been an incredible help - I can't understate how much help and support they've been able to give.

Three weeks ago my mum received the all clear and we are all beyond happy and proud of her for beating this, although we never had any doubt she would. That being said I know for a fact she would have had a lot of a harder time if it weren't for the help of the swallows, which is why I will be running the Leeds Marathon 2024 on the 12th of May to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity.
