Story
On the 1st of November I am going to be running 100km around the Harlow and Loughton area in Memory of the beautiful Ruby rose.
She tragically lost her life on October 11th 2024. It started off as a routine appendix removal but months later she suddenly fell ill with a blockage in her bowel which caused the sepsis. The family then made the impossible decision to remove Ruby’s life support.
In Ruby’s memory, Ellie and her family have created The Ruby Rose Foundation, this is a charitable organisation that aims to raise awareness and educate people on Sepsis, support likeminded charities with research and signpost but when possible to cover the cost of bereavement services. They know first hand how challenging it is, when trying to navigate grief, how much of a financial burden finding bereavement support can be. The NHS waitlist for bereavement counselling can have you waiting months, whereas at the time grief starts, through The Ruby Rose Foundation, they can signpost you to someone who can see you within days.
Sepsis is a life threatening emergency and with Ruby’s story it shows how it can happen to anyone, at any age, and the rate of which is can change your life is gut wrenchingly awful! Learning the symptoms and having “Could it be Sepsis?” at the front of your minds is vital as you never know when it could save yours, or your loved one’s life.
The suffering I will go through during the 100km is NOTHING compared to the heartbreak Ellie and her family have endured over the past 2 years.
So this is where I need your help, any donation will go straight to heart of helping families THAT REALLY NEED IT. I’d like as many people as possible to help run portions of the route with me, to show support not just me but Ellie and her family.
