We support teenagers and young adults diagnosed with cancer who are undergoing treatment. We provide grants so that recipients can take a break or participate in activities that support physical and emotional well-being and to enable families to maintain regular visits when in hospital.

Story

Hello everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have always wanted to compete in the London Marathon and have been fortunate to secure a place this year at my first attempt of applying. I know I have been really lucky to get a place and this is a really big deal for me, having only taken part in one half marathon previously; the Sheffield Half last year.

I have decided to use my marathon run to spread awareness of and raise some money for the charity, Jasmine's Legacy of Dreams.

For those of you who don't know, Jasmine’s Legacy of Dreams is a charity based in Sutton Bonington, founded by Debbie and Andrew Moseley who lost their daughter Jasmine, aged 19, to leukaemia in January 2021.

The charity’s purpose is to deliver physical and practical relief to teenagers and young adults with cancer who are being treated within the East Midlands region. The focus is to help those affected achieve their own ambitions and dreams, as well as providing practical support at a time when those affected are mostly scared, vulnerable and with their lives placed on hold.

I attended playgroup with Jasmine and was in the same class throughout primary school. Later on, we were both in the same sixth form group. Living nearby to each other, I would often see Jasmine on her horse when I was out and about and we would always exchange a smile and a wave. It was hard to hear that Jasmine had been diagnosed with cancer at such an early age and then for her to pass away at 19, I couldn't imagine how Debbie, Andrew and the family must have felt. If by raising some money, I can help other teenagers like Jasmine, then my marathon experience will be even more special and worthwhile to me.
