Skydive Day September 2024 · 21 September 2024 to 22 September 2024 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Alzheimers affects around 1 in 14 people over 65 and like many people it affected my family as well.

When I was 3 my grandad sadly had a stroke, he recovered fully but this brought on Alzheimers for him. The following years stripped him of his identity and meant that by the time I was old enough to have any memories of him, the man that my family knew and loved was gone. He passed away when I was 11 having never gotten to know me.

I'm doing this in honour of Tony Hall, my grandad, and families like mine that lost a loved one in this demoralising way.

Below is a photo taken in my grandparents house before my grandad's stroke.
