Maxines 3rd and 4th Marathon fundraiser

maxine shackell is raising money for East & North Hertfordshire Hospitals' Charity

London Marathon MyWay 2026 · 26 April 2026 ·

We enhance the care at Lister, New QEII, Hertford County and MVCC by funding projects above the remit of the NHS. Projects include providing the latest equipment, making improvements to the inside and outside spaces, funding support services and items to make being in hospital that much easier.

Story

I am fundraising for East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals' Charity!

And supporting The Macmillan Cancer Centre at The Lister Hospital were I had my treatment for Breast Cancer.

This is a double header challenge

On Saturday 21st March I will be running my first Ultra Marathon of 50K ( 30 miles) from Welwyn Garden City to the Olympic Park. Following the Lea Valley Tow Path.

5 weeks later

In the early hours of Sundays 26th April I will be running The Official 46th London Marathon "My Way" 42Km

( 26.2 miles) with the Reverse London Marathon group, We start at the Official finish line and running the course, finishing at the Official start line before the Elite athletes begin.

The charity supports the four hospitals within the East and North Hertfordshire Trust - Lister Hospital, New QEII, Hertford County and Mount Vernon Cancer Centre - helping them go above and beyond for patients, their families and visitors. The charity funds new specialist equipment, extra staff training, research and projects to enhance patient experience.

I received treatment in all four of these hospitals and currently have two friends undergoing Cancer treatment.

So why am I doing it?

Why not, these are Marathons 3 and 4 following my Breast Cancer Diagnosis nearly 4 years now....

A Cancer diagnosis does not define me and I run with Rebellious Hope always.

We can and continue to make a difference! So please Donate today!

Thank You Max xx
