On 21st May I will be taking part in a Firewalk in support of The ExtraCare Charitable Trust, an organisation that creates safe, supportive communities for older people to live independently with dignity, connection, opportunity and care.

Through my work as an Estate Planning Consultant and my partnering work with The ExtraCare Charitable Trust I regularly meet residents who live in ExtraCare village communities. I’ve seen first hand the difference these environments make, not just in terms of safety and accessibility, but in reducing loneliness, building confidence and helping people remain active, social and involved in the things they enjoy.

Too often, I meet people at difficult moments in life, after illness, loss, or sudden change. The reassurance that comes from being part of a community like ExtraCare can be life changing for both residents and their families.

That’s why I’m stepping (barefoot!) out of my comfort zone to take part in this Firewalk to raise funds that help provide better lives for these amazing communities.
