Story
Leah and I are taking on the Manchester half marathon in aid of Alzheimer’s Society. This is a huge challenge for us and a big step up from our usual casual running!
We have chosen Alzheimer’s Society as our chosen charity as our wonderful Grandma Irene is currently living with dementia and while she is now getting the care she needs, the journey to get there took a really long time and included some really scary and difficult times for both our family and most importantly for Grandma.
By taking on this challenge and fundraising, we are hoping that both patients and families get the right level of care they need as soon as they need it.
What’s really heartbreaking is that only about 5 years ago our Grandma (then in her late 70’s) could have definitely had a good go at walking a half marathon (you’ve never seen a small elderly woman move so fast) and now she’s confined to a wheelchair due to this horrible disease.
For you Grandma xx

“At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.”
