Story
Each year the Mayor selects charities to support during their time in office, both by promoting them and by raising funds. In 2026 to 2027, The Mayor of Bromley Councillor Christine Harris has chosen Madlani Cancer Support and The Dyslexia Association for Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich & Lewisham (DABBGL). There will be opportunities to donate and support at events throughout the year.
Madlani Cancer Support is a community-based charity providing support for women, men and anyone living with any type of cancer, as well as their families, friends and carers.
Based in Orpington, the charity offers a welcoming and inclusive environment where anyone affected by cancer can access emotional support, wellbeing activities, holistic and complementary therapies, workshops and community connection within a safe and understanding space.
Founded through personal experiences of cancer, Madlani Cancer Support understands that not only those diagnosed, but also the loved ones supporting them, can often feel isolated and overlooked. The charity is committed to ensuring that nobody faces cancer alone.
Meeting weekly at Orpington Village Hall, Madlani Cancer Support continues to build a strong and supportive community for people across Bromley, Kent and Greater London.
