We raise funds for support and research to those affected by Stargardt's Disease

Story

On Saturday 13th April, the Mayor of Broxbourne Cllr Paul Seeby will be leading the Stargardt's Connected Sunglasses Fundraising Walk to help raise awareness of Stargardt’s and to raise vital funds for Stargardt’s Connected. We will be joining the Mayor alongside our son Ethan and friends.

Our son Ethan was diagnosed with a rare inherited degenerative retinal eye condition called Stargardt’s when he was just 7 years old. Stargardt’s causes central vision loss and problems with fine detail vision such as recognising faces, reading and watching TV. There is no current treatment or cure and we are helplessly watching our son go blind.

As well as vision loss, Stargardt’s causes photophobia (sensitivity to light) and UV light from the sun can speed up the progression of the disease. Therefore it is recommended to those affected to wear sunglasses all year round.

Following Ethan’s diagnosis we set up the charity Stargardt’s Connected to raise awareness, give support and raise funds for research.

Please donate to this worthwhile cause- your donation will help Stargardt’s Connected to continue to fund vital research and provide much needed support to the community.

Thank you for your support!
