Story
I’m trekking to K2 Basecamp to raise funds for people in crisis — because I believe in the power of humanity and standing beside each other when it matters most.
As someone with lived experience of displacement and migration, I know what it feels like when your world is uprooted in an instant. This journey is deeply personal — a way to honour where I’ve come from and give back to those now walking that same uncertain path.
This trek isn’t just about reaching the base of one of the world’s highest peaks — it’s about reaching people. It’s about showing that no matter how far away someone’s suffering may seem, we are all connected by something greater: compassion.
Someone once said, “By climbing mountains we were not learning how big we were, we were finding out how breakable, how weak, and how full of fear we are.” That’s the truth of this journey — it's not about proving strength, but embracing vulnerability, and choosing solidarity over silence.
Right now, families in places like Sudan and Congo are facing unimaginable hardship. Conflict, displacement, and hunger have left millions without shelter, safety, or hope. Through this journey and this fundraising effort, I want them to know: you are not forgotten.
I’m raising funds through the British Red Cross because wherever crisis strikes — whether in the UK or across the world — they are there, offering compassion, support, and lifesaving aid. Every donation is a message of hope. A reminder that someone, somewhere, cares.
Thank you for walking this path with me.
