Michelle's fundraiser for British Heart Foundation

On 26th April 2025 I will be travelling to Peru to trek along the grueling Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Battling the elements, and the dreaded altitude sickness! Camping at times in low temperatures. Ascending and descending large steps along the way.
In December '24 I am ran a mile/day and 40 push ups/day. 29th September is WORLD HEART DAY and I climbed England's biggest mountain, Scaffell Pike.
I am on a mission to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation, a cause that is close to my heart. In 1994 I started a 3 month nursing post on a cardiology ward as a nurse. Now, 30 years later I am still carrying out cardiology nursing with passion and empathy for every patient I come across. The advances I have seen in those 30 years is totally mind blowing. Many of these advances has been from the research work the British Heart Foundation has carried out.

We have all heard of the massive amount of lives saved by having automated defibrillators in health centres and schools. When I started nursing patients who have had a heart attack, if they survived, they would be in hospital for 10 days. Now, in 2024 many are in hospital for 2-3 days!
The BHF has played a crucial role in reducing the number of lives lost to heart and circulatory diseases in the UK. However, the battle is far from over, and every day, countless individuals continue to face these health challenges. With your generous support, we can empower the BHF to pioneer new treatments and uncover life-saving cures. Just £24 could fund two hours of vital research by an early career scientist, but every contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a difference. Together, let's work towards reaching our target and making a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by heart conditions.
BHF also provide support phone lines, information leaflets and online CPR training.
Thank you for considering this important cause and for any support you can provide.
